Before a few months ago, I'd never heard of a pangolin. These fascinating mammals resemble scaly anteaters but are more closely related to cats. They are toothless, shy, and have tongues as long as their bodies. When threatened, they roll up in a ball, protected by scales made of keratin (the same substance that makes up your fingernails and hair). It is these scales that have driven the world's eight species of pangolin to the brink of extinction. The Chinese value the scales for medicinal purposes, believing they can cure all sorts of ailments, including cancer. The truth is, you can get the same medicinal effect by chewing on your hair and nails! There is no truth to this superstitious belief. Pangolin are also prized for their meat, and dishes of pangolin embryo soup are eaten as a status symbol at $1,500 a bowl! I wanted to do something to increase awareness of pangolin and the threats facing them. So I created a couple watercolors and converted them to note cards.
These blank note cards are printed from a series of watercolor and pen & ink paintings I did. The cards make a wonderful gift to give or keep for yourself! You can celebrate World Pangolin Day (February 15). There are eight (8) cards in total--four of each painting--along with nine (9) envelopes. The cards measure 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". Each card is printed on white, premium, print-quality card stock. I have hand signed each card and noted on the back the name of the series.
The cards will come to you in a gift box tied with a fabric ribbon.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
No. My gourd art is intended for inside use only. The art will not hold up to weather and is not created to do so.
No. Unless I specifically state that the piece has been waterproofed, my gourd art should not be exposed to liquids including water. However, non-leaking containers for water--such as slender glass vases, etc.,--can be placed into the bowl or vase if you wish to use the piece for holding fresh flower bouquets. Just be careful to make sure there is no spillage.
No. Gourds are natural elements that will have bumps, dings, and blemishes. These are simply a part of the gourd itself.
I am a one person operation. I cannot and do not want to mass produce. I prefer NOT to become involved in wholesale.
Almost all of my art comes gift boxed and tied with a fabric ribbon. If you want the order gift wrapped, please convo me to discuss. I can also include a customized gift enclosure card. Please make sure to let me know in the "message" portion of your order if you wish to send as a gift and provide the name and address of the recipient. I try to include a copy of your receipt with each order. If the item is a gift, I will withhold the receipt unless you direct me otherwise.
I send a set of "care instructions" with all of my gourd art. Gourd art should be cared for in the same manner you would care for fine wood. Simply dust gently with a dry cloth. Keep the piece out of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to ensure the colors do not fade. Keep the piece out of water.
