50% of the profits from the sale of these cards will be donated to Pangolin Conservation of St. Augustine, Florida. Pangolin Conservation is a non-profit organization dedicated to education, research and conservation of one of the most illegally poached animals on earth. Before a few months ago, I'd never heard of a pangolin. These fascinating mammals resemble scaly anteaters but are more closely related to cats. They are toothless, shy, and have tongues as long as their bodies. When threatened, they roll up in a ball, protected by scales made of keratin (the same substance that makes up your fingernails and hair). It is these scales that have driven the world's eight species of pangolin to the brink of extinction. Some Asians value the scales for medicinal purposes, believing they can cure all sorts of ailments, including cancer. The truth is, you can get the same medicinal effect by chewing on your hair and nails! There is no basis for this superstitious belief. Pangolin are also prized for their meat, and dishes of pangolin embryo soup are eaten as a status symbol at $1,500 a bowl! I wanted to do something to increase awareness of pangolin and the threats facing them. So I created a several watercolors and converted them to note cards. (I have also completed three carved gourd art pieces featuring the pangolin. The pieces have all been sold, but I can create a custom work for you. Simply convo me.) This is my latest watercolor. I call it "Hibiscus Pangolin" and it shows a mother with her baby.

These blank note cards are printed from this most recent watercolor and pen & ink painting I did. The cards make a wonderful gift to give or keep for yourself! You can celebrate World Pangolin Day (February 15). There are eight (8) cards in total--four of two sizes of painting--along with nine (9) envelopes. The cards measure 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". Each card is printed on white, premium, print-quality card stock. I have hand signed each card and noted on the back the name of the series.

The cards will come to you in a gift box tied with a fabric ribbon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my gourd art be kept outside?

No. My gourd art is intended for inside use only. The art will not hold up to weather and is not created to do so.

Can my gourd vases and bowls be filled with water for fresh flowers?

No. Unless I specifically state that the piece has been waterproofed, my gourd art should not be exposed to liquids including water. However, non-leaking containers for water--such as slender glass vases, etc.,--can be placed into the bowl or vase if you wish to use the piece for holding fresh flower bouquets. Just be careful to make sure there is no spillage.

There are bumps and blemishes on the gourd art. Are these defects?

No. Gourds are natural elements that will have bumps, dings, and blemishes. These are simply a part of the gourd itself.

Wholesale availability

I am a one person operation. I cannot and do not want to mass produce. I prefer NOT to become involved in wholesale.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Almost all of my art comes gift boxed and tied with a fabric ribbon. If you want the order gift wrapped, please convo me to discuss. I can also include a customized gift enclosure card. Please make sure to let me know in the "message" portion of your order if you wish to send as a gift and provide the name and address of the recipient. I try to include a copy of your receipt with each order. If the item is a gift, I will withhold the receipt unless you direct me otherwise.

Care instructions

I send a set of "care instructions" with all of my gourd art. Gourd art should be cared for in the same manner you would care for fine wood. Simply dust gently with a dry cloth. Keep the piece out of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to ensure the colors do not fade. Keep the piece out of water.
